Electrofenton with Reticular Vitreous Carbon and Iron Oxide Nanoparticles for Dye Removal: A Preliminary Study

In this work, an RVC electrode coated with magnetic iron oxide nanoparticles was used for the degradation of methylene blue as a model dye. The electrofenton process carried out by reduction oxygen dissolved in electrolyte on modified to produce hydrogen peroxide. presence magnetite/maghemite structure produces formation OH∙ radicals that oxidize blue. RVC/coated prepared two different methodologies: Methodology A: immersion solution saturated magnetite nanoparticles; and B: electrochemical synthesis. Scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction Mössbauer spectroscopy shows uniform coating electrode. determines only maghemite using methodology A 60% 40% when B used. dipping is one has provided best results blue, obtaining 100% removal after 35 min, applying current 100 mA 20 mg L−1 concentration 50 mM sodium sulfate.
